Reminding somebody to collect
The automatic reminder, when it goes, and what to do about the bike that has been finished since March.
Finished work that nobody collects is the thing that eats floor space between March and June.
The automatic reminder
Three days after a job is marked Done and still uncollected, Benchtop sends one reminder. Only one. A second reminder does not work and starts to read as nagging.
The Still here view
Jobs → Still here lists everything finished and uncollected, oldest first, with an age. Anything past three weeks is in red. Work down it once a week; it takes about ten minutes and it is the highest-value ten minutes in the software.
The long tail
For anything past about six weeks, a phone call beats a text. Log the call as a note on the job so the next person to look does not repeat it. If you have a policy on uncollected goods, the note is also the record you will want if it ever matters.
